The Museum of the History of Polish Jews, widely known as the Polin Museum, documents the history of Polish Jews that spans many centuries. It was constructed in 2009-2013 and opened in 2014. Its function is double: it operates as a traditional museum as well as a cultural and educational center. Importantly, the permanent exhibition entitled "1,000 Years of the History of Polish Jews" is not focused solely on the situation of Jews during World War II and the Holocaust, but traces in a comprehensive manner the history of Polish Jews over many centuries.
