Warsaw Uprising Museum

"The Warsaw Uprising Museum, whose construction began several decades after the events of August and September 1944, is a unique institution collecting memorabilia and documentation related to the history of the Warsaw Uprising and its participants, as well as a place that organizes a plethora of events related to history and culture for participants representing all generations. The Museum is located in Wola District, in the former tram power plant built in 1908. During the Warsaw Uprising, the so-called hard battlefront ran in the vicinity of the power station, making the latter a direct witness of the events to which the Museum is dedicated.

The construction of the Museum began in 2003 upon the initiative of the then president of Warsaw, Lech Kaczyński. With the use of state-of-the-art audiovisual technologies, it presents the fight of those involved in the Warsaw Uprising, as well as everyday life in Warsaw under the Nazi occupation. The collection consists of over 30,000 exhibits, and their number is constantly growing.

The Museum is adapted to the needs of even very young visitors. Plan on spending at least of 1.5 hours visiting the exhibition."
