Warsaw Uprising Tour

The Warsaw Uprising is one of the most tragic events in the history of Warsaw. Approximately 80 per cent of the city was destroyed by German troops during the Uprising and in the months that followed. The Uprising in August and September 1944 went down in history as Varsovians’ heroic attempt at fighting for their city.

The tour comprises the most important and emblematic sites related to the Warsaw Uprising. Two options are available: a guided walk or a tour aboard a vintage bus.

Tour aboard a vintage bus

Sights include:
- Towarowa Street: the Warsaw Uprising Museum,
- Okopowa St.: Żytnia St., Mireckiego St., the Jewish Cemetery (from the outside), the so-called Fortress of St. Kinga – in the footsteps of the famous "Zośka" Battalion,
- Stawki St.: Muranowska St. (former Muranowski Square), the church of St. John of God (nonexistent hospital of St. John of God),
- the Old Town: the Monument of the Warsaw Uprising, Krasińskich Square, Długa St., Kilińskiego St., Monument to the Little Insurgent, St. John's Archcathedral.

- Marszałkowska St.: PAST building on Zielna St., Prudential on Świętokrzyska St.,
- Aleje Jerozolimskie: the place where the barricade across the Avenue was constructed, the plaque commemorating Antek Rozpylacz.

The organisation of the tour depends on the time allocated to it by participants, as well as the tour's starting and end points.

The tour comprises a walk around the Old Town. It is possible to combine the tour with a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the Pawiak Prison Museum, or a walk around the Powązki Military Cemetery.

Suggested duration of the trip: 3 hours
Proposed mode of transport: Chausson bus
